Hay Bales

There aren't many things finer than driving down the road, looking out and seeing a field peppered with hay bales. I saw these beauties near the wheat montana farm and stopped to take a few photos.

Excellant photos! I have always wondered though, why are the bales there? In Oklahoma they just stay there in the fields and I never knew why. I'm not a native Okie so that may be why I'm so ignorant.

I am glad you asked. I thought it would be interesting to tell the history of hay bales along with the post. In reality, the story is not very interesting but I did learn alot. There is a system of maturation for the hay so it will winter best. I think the reason that the bales lie in the fields is to dry thoroughly before being covered or transfered to a storage area. Thanks for your commment.
